When you think of Valentines day, the first thing that comes to mind, is hearts! I recently received an order for just this! This was such a fun unique piece to create and a slight challenge. This hat is made in 3 pieces, and has so many color way options! Step one is creating all the hearts: Step two is how you find out if you connected all your hearts properly! I learned this one the hard way, haha. I placed a few hearts wrong and had to undo them and fix it. This step is how you create the top part of the beanie. Finally, you are on to step three! The creating the bottom of the beanie and the band. The final step is really where all the magic comes in. The full piece is finished and just ready for your ends to be sewn together<3 I just love the way the pinks and red pop against that grey, and all the texture you get from the stitches used to make it all complete. Until next time

Let me in! I apologize now if you just caught yourself saying, not by the hair on my chinny chin, chin! Sometimes you can't help but giggle as you sketch out ideas for your next hat, and this is one of those. My nephew is nicknamed Pigley, and he was in need of winter hat, so I sat down with a sketch pad and set to work. When I think of little piglets, I think pink, curly tails and cute little snorts. Since they offer so many pink yarn colors, I stuck with deeper pink and used a baby pink to help the snout "pop". How cute is that little face? I wasn't able to include a snort, but I did make sure to add the key element of a pig. Look at that little tail!!
Little man will be staying warm, while being the cutest in the town! xoxo I was talking to my brother a little before Christmas, on how I was going to be that "lame aunt" who made everyone hats this year, and was told "Well sister I do need an orange one, small game season is around the corner!". So I took my "hint" and ran with it! I figured why make a basic orange beanie, when I can make it...a little fun. Plus, my brother knows how I am , so I figured he wouldn't mind at all. ;) I spent some time on google, found a million images I could use, but couldn't decide on...until this one. The way the antlers just curve, I could see it fitting just right. On a side note, do you have any idea just how many "deer silhouettes" pop up on google? I swear, I had dreams about them! Maybe I'm just a sucker for details, or what have you, but that deer really makes it all come together!
xoxo What little girl doesn't dream of owning her own horse? I know I did! Be able to ride with the breeze in your hair and a friendship no one can beat? A girls dream! I may not be able to make a real horse for a little one, but I can make them a hat of one! How cute is she! The way the warm chestnut and baby pink just mend together and that pop of white hair<3 I couldn't resist adding a small bow , it just pulls it all together<3
xoxo The holiday season came with a rush! My order book was over flowing, my yarn was dwindling, my house was chaos...but all in good fun. I was trying to hardest to stay ahead of the game and get everything I needed done, and done in good timing. I was on top of my order book, I was just slacking on my Christmas shopping. Anyone else shop the day before? No, just me? While "enjoying" all the snow, I was in my crochet spot, and busting out stitches. One of my orders was for a Kraken hat and a baby beanie with a Octopus on top. If you are a Detroiter (hockey in general I guess too), you know the Red Wings! How cute is that little guy!!! It was made for 0-3 months and I hope the parents to be love it! In that same order, I made an adult version... I hear the owner of this guy, is the talk of the town and gets many compliments on his hat!
XOXO Its the month of majestic beauty! Everyone is loving unicorns and I can't say that I really blame them! One was a order and she picked the cutest design, with the brightest colors! Its a fun bonnet style hat, with a beautiful mane. The amount of detail in this item, is really amazing. The hat part is made in 2 pieces, followed by sewing them together perfectly or you will mess up the fit. After that, you make your ears, your horn and the mane is made separate. The mane alone was some work and a lot of practice. I had to first make a base with the white yarn, and attach each color on and chain it up and trim away the excess yarn, After it was complete, I had to sew it on the hat carefully so that it didn't hang to low ( that would cause the bonnet to fall backward and not stay on your head. It was kind of hard to deliver because I fell in love with it. Just look at that blinged out horn!!! I also had my goddaughters 6th birthday coming up and she loves unicorns!! Last year I made her a beanie with a rainbow mane and horn...so this year I had to top myself! So I made her a hooded cowl and a taxidermy head.
I must say for just winging the hooded cowl it came out so pretty! That mane is one of a kind wool mixed with fun fur in pinks and purples. The taxidermy head was a blast to make, I tested all my patience in ways I didn't know I could! The head is actually attached to the black of wood with a very strong glue! I laid on the ground with a blow dryer to get it to dry perfectly! hahah, I am so serious about this! the mane can be switched to either side or split on both sides. The nostrils are probably my favorite part though. She seemed to love them both and that is all that matters<3 After creating my last piece, I realized I was kind of obsessed and that it needed a hat! What better way to deal with winter than with a bright scarf and hat? Just me? Winter can be so dark and gloomy and can be rather depressing on some days in Michigan. This hat is made with a beautiful shell stitch ( kind of reminds me of fireworks with this yarn) and is paired up with Shocking Pink double pom poms. I made sure to stick with the black boarder for that extra color pop. Variegated yarns can honestly make some of the most beautiful colorways. The double pom feature makes it almost like a fancy Cat hat too. My youngest just loves her and practically lives in it now that fall has really hit Michigan! XOXO I think I have confessed this in a long post, but I am a huge comic book movie junkie. Give me all the superheroes! This year wonder woman came out and it was AMAZING!!! As a mother to two young girls, its a must see! Its built around love and trust and badassness!
With that being said I knew I needed to add her to my fall line up and after a few google searches, I came across a hat and kind of just winged it. Now you and your daughters ( sons too!) can be full of wonder this fall and winter!!! The hat is made with a graph style design and is all in one piece that just screams Murica! It has been a week over here! Both of my divas got that lovely flu that was going around! So I took a few days off of crochet to make sure I was there to hold hair back, rub sore muscles, laugh at the same cartoon for the 15th time, and just snuggle! While we were all enjoying the couch, I spent a few hours sketching up new ideas and researching new stitches. I must say I am in love with the knit stitch! It makes the cutest little hearts! After everyone was back to being healthy, I busted out the yarn! This was born! Cause there aint no party, like a Detroit party! Especially on opening day!!! I'm calling this the Tigers Slouch. It can be made in any team colors! Its made with an acrylic yarn and the patch is cut from felt. It has that perfect about of slouch and is unisex! Enjoy! xoxo Like many people, I find myself scrolling through the internet late at night...when I should be sleeping. A few nights ago I came across the cutest hat pattern! After a screen shot and bookmark....I set out to make it!
This little heart is one of the many things that just screams the 90s to me! Back when video games didn't have a million buttons, haha. If you have made graphgans before, you can easily make this on your own. The pattern can be found on the Whistle and Ivy blog. She has so many beautiful patterns and a ton of awesome freebies! I followed the pattern exactly, all I changed was my bobbins. I made 2 in red only because carrying it through the entire hat was not working for me last night. I hope you enjoy it as much as me! I have yet to take it off today, especially since Michigan decided we needed a few inches of snow last night. I can not wait to make a few more and get them up on my etsy and ready for craft fair season! Contact me for yours today! Enjoy! Yarn- Lion Brand Vanna Choice: Charcoal Grey, Red, White, Black xoxo |
