I was talking to my brother a little before Christmas, on how I was going to be that "lame aunt" who made everyone hats this year, and was told "Well sister I do need an orange one, small game season is around the corner!". So I took my "hint" and ran with it! I figured why make a basic orange beanie, when I can make it...a little fun. Plus, my brother knows how I am , so I figured he wouldn't mind at all. ;) I spent some time on google, found a million images I could use, but couldn't decide on...until this one. The way the antlers just curve, I could see it fitting just right. On a side note, do you have any idea just how many "deer silhouettes" pop up on google? I swear, I had dreams about them! Maybe I'm just a sucker for details, or what have you, but that deer really makes it all come together!

What little girl doesn't dream of owning her own horse? I know I did! Be able to ride with the breeze in your hair and a friendship no one can beat? A girls dream! I may not be able to make a real horse for a little one, but I can make them a hat of one! How cute is she! The way the warm chestnut and baby pink just mend together and that pop of white hair<3 I couldn't resist adding a small bow , it just pulls it all together<3
xoxo Winter is really here in Michigan, we got the snow and the negative degrees. Which means its scarf season! What better way to battle the elements than with turtle power! My friend recently discovered that she had no scarves for the kids or the adults, and knew where to go to get some. I was just asked for her husband to be the red turtle, lol, and was given free range on making the items for Christmas. I set out to find the best matching colors and got to work. I figured the best scarf, is a standard style with a fun twist, and they did not disappoint! I made sure to make faces on both sides, so no matter how you wear it, one of the 4 sides would show. I also added extra length to the kids as well, so they can grow with them and not without them! She loved them <3
xoxox The holiday season came with a rush! My order book was over flowing, my yarn was dwindling, my house was chaos...but all in good fun. I was trying to hardest to stay ahead of the game and get everything I needed done, and done in good timing. I was on top of my order book, I was just slacking on my Christmas shopping. Anyone else shop the day before? No, just me? While "enjoying" all the snow, I was in my crochet spot, and busting out stitches. One of my orders was for a Kraken hat and a baby beanie with a Octopus on top. If you are a Detroiter (hockey in general I guess too), you know the Red Wings! How cute is that little guy!!! It was made for 0-3 months and I hope the parents to be love it! In that same order, I made an adult version... I hear the owner of this guy, is the talk of the town and gets many compliments on his hat!
XOXO Winter is finally here, as I type up this post the snow is flowing outside. When I began really getting into testing my crochet skills, I told myself I would create clothing. I never really follow through with these goals, or find time for them. Its rare to make yourself a item, and its the same for any crafter out there. You get caught up in the orders, the revamps, the updating blogs and social media, the family and that attempt at having a social life, haha. This year though, I made time for myself and made myself a sweater dress for thanksgiving. I had my youngest pick the color, and she didn't fail me with her love for mint!!! After a few days, a few failed gauge swatches and lots of missing sleep...I completed it!!! I am so in love with the detail with the cables, the color, the fit...that fact that I created it!!! I even got a chuckle because I was asked if I made it at dinner! Who knew an ego stroke could be so amazing! Someone actually thought I bought it!!! I want to make another in a wine red, only shorter as a normal sweater! Who knows when I will have time for that, but for now I will wear this one proudly!
My beautiful baby niece is turning one Tuesday and its hard to believe that time has gone this fast! A year ago I was being woke up to call that my sisters water was leaking and hours later she was in a delivery room. On Dec 12th 2016 I became a Aunt! My baby sister became a mom! Its such a crazy thing to see someone you look to as your other child, become a parent. My baby sister welcomed in to the world this big blue eyed baby doll, that captured all of our hearts. My kids and I fight over who gets to hog her and who gets to spoil her! My sister hounds us all and helicopters us...but I cant say that I blame her. We might take the cutie home with us and not look back :) Baby girl is currently obsessed with Tinker Bell and all my sister asked for her birthday was a Tinker doll. So after a few searches, I found the pattern I needed and set off to create the perfect birthday gift. She stands just over 13 inches high and has big ol blue eyes to match my baby girl<3 The smile on her face made my day!!!
The holiday season is here and with that is all the chaos! The running all over, the cooking, the dinners, the presents...need I say more? I love family time and I love getting together with everyone. As we get older and start our own families, we tend to cut back on the real get together. We have our family to keep us busy and our careers that cut into visits. The holiday's are the one real time we all have no excuses? I stress every year during the rush of shopping and making sure everyone has something and every year I complain or whine...but on those actual days...I am a kid in a candy store. To see your kids building memories with the people your memories really start with...is honestly amazing. I am a huge grandmas girl and my grandma is the one who still makes our holiday meals. Now a days I get to watch her teach my kids her secret gravy recipes and hear her yelling at someone besides me to stay out of the pickles! My brother and sister both have families of their own and all the kids get to be together. My in laws throw dinners and the cousins all run around singing and making up concerts. It is honestly the most rewarding thing to be a part of. Family. You are surrounded by the few people who get YOU and keep you grounded. This goes for those friends who have been there forever and you have you kids call Aunt/Uncle. Its all about the people. The one special gift no one can buy. Memories. How do you spend your holiday season? A peek at Thanksgiving: I have always loved the thought of creating my own clothing, but never really past the thought of it. Until recently!
I came across a new page on Instagram that I had never seen before and I found it as she was releasing her newest sweater design. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a deep obsession with Nightmare Before Christmas, I couldn't say no to it . Winter is coming, well it is suppose to be, and with winter comes over sized sweaters and comfy clothes. This season everyone is loving the pull over styles, and honestly who can blame them? I recently finished two custom orders for the Aura Pullover ( Velvet Acorn patterns) and I can not get over how squishy and snuggly they are. I used a heather grey yarn held with 2 strands and fell in love with all the texture this pocho style has to offer. It buttons on the side for easy removal and has a cowl build right into the neckline, for those chilly nights. This one was made for a 7 year old and now has both my kids wanting one! Look at all that texture!!
Once I am caught up on my order book, Ill be making the divas each one of these! At some point winter will really hit Michigan, right? See something you like, send a message! |
