Sometimes you just need to run away and recharge! That is exactly what the Divas and I did a few weeks ago ( and will be doing again next weekend). We took a last minute trip 3 hours north and spent some much needed family time! We went and enjoyed nature, hiking, the river, and my brother and his little family! While up north my brother took us all to Van Etten Lake to go fishing and I snapped this picture. The colors just captured my full attention and I was on a mission to create a piece that would be a reminder of this moment. After I found the perfect mustard yarn, I started sketching up ideas, and more ideas and at the end of the day...I just knew I needed to keep it classic. So I stuck with a granny shawl design, so I didn't take away from the yarn. Isn't that mustard gorgeous! I ended up going back to the store and buying the rest! It seems like its being discontinued and I just needed to hoard a little more! Once I completed the triangle, I did a sparkle black yarn edge and added some classic tassels. I honestly am so in love! Normally I am in to loud, bright and fun colors, but this color....so pretty! The Van Etten <3
Do you love the mustard? What color would you love to see?

The end of summer is slowly getting here, and the back to school lists are showing up. So you know what that means, right? Fall is almost here! I love summer, I am a July baby, but I love me some fall! The smell, the hoodie weather, cider and my wedding anniversary! Plus with fall comes all things Basic...Pumpkin Spice here I come! I know its a little "too early" for some to be excited for all this...but Sept 1st means Halloween decor is allowed! ;-) I found myself craving the season lately. So I decided to create my own PSL (pumpkin spice latte) How cute is that cinnamon stick stem!? For this one I used a alpaca blend, you can see the halo of fibers glowing<3
My oldest has an obsession with dragons, so it was really no surprise she requested something dragon related with yarn. I recently discovered the Dragon Wing Scarf and had been talking to my friend about it. Once she noticed it, she was in my yarn room digging around and tossing me a skein of yarn she wanted it in. She didn't really give me much choice, and asked every few minutes if I started it yet, haha. She picked a beautiful blend by Red Heart Yarn, its got this pretty silver mix in with multiple blues. It works up so nice and is a little on the thin side for a Medium weight. The Jacobs Ladder adds a touch of extra texture! Once it was completed she was ready to model! Look at all that texture!!! With every photo shoot we do, the girls get a little more diva like! We always joke about how extra extra they are, but its become a game now to out do the last shoot. But, with every shoot, no matter how extra, we always get a fun picture! Do you have a dragon lover in your life?
Who else lost their lives to Ragnar? I have a habit of being the last to every party, but I finally watched Vikings! I am not sure how many hours I sat glued to my tv, or the hours of sleep I lost...but it was soooo worth it! I keep telling everyone, when I grow up, I want to be just like Lagertha<3 It just so happens that my nephew is Viking obsessed ( my brother is why I lost my life to Ragnar) and every viking needs a helmet! My youngest never misses a chance to model! Her natural sass screams Viking Warrior!
"I am iron and I forge myself"- Lagertha Do you have a Viking in your life? Do they need a helmet? <3 Summer is my down time, business wise, and when I try to come up with my fall stock ideas and well...the stock! I use this time to try and find new ideas and ways to push myself. This summer seems to be starting on a amigurumi kick! Allow me to introduce you to my newest set! I discovered the 2D pattern from Spinayarncrochet on instagram and I just knew I needed one! Which was followed by on me needing a cute girly one. Who doesn't love a Ballerina Dino?! They are set up kind of like a pillow and perfect for night time snuggles! Wanting to spruce up the rooms with some Dino love? I am dying to help!!! I was born with no green thumb. I CAN NOT for the life of me, grow plants.... I am not even being dramatic when I say this. I killed bamboo...who kills something that sits in a cup?! My kids are always laughing at me because I love flowers and veggies, but every year they all say no to me. It is honestly so bad that my youngest diva was sent home with a cabbage from school. We are suppose to document its growth all summer and fill out a info packet on it. Come September we are to send it all the images, weight and size of the cabbage and our packet. If you have the biggest one you a scholarship towards college. Pretty cool, right? Well my daughter skipped right over to our neighbors house and asked her if they could grow it together! Haha. My neighbor is like an adopted Grandma over here to us and my youngest loves going over there to help with yard work. April jumped right into it and together they have had a pretty successful cabbage growing experience. (May VS June ) I wanted to find a way to thank her, so I MADE her a plant! I may not be able to grow anything...but I think I have a pretty good green thumb with yarn! Need to add a sunflower in your home? Send me a message! Summer is FINALLY here in Michigan and the sun is shining! With summer comes the beautiful flowers! I am currently creating a few pieces for my nieces and nephews, summer is a crochet business down time, and I can not help but love this new design! Summer means festivals, fairs and travel. Which means us ladies need a fun and simple purse! Ok, so maybe its just me who needs one, being extra is kind of my thing. I need something just to hold the cellular, wallet and headphones. Which is where this beauty comes in! Look at all that texture! The sunflower is completely 3D! *Swoon*
Isn't she a beauty! Want to add one to your summer collection? www.etsy.com/shop/LilStitchWitch Sometimes, you just need to be your inner goofy, weird self and roll with it. That's exactly what I did! As I have said already, its down season in the yarn business, and I am taking full advantage! I came across this book a year ( or maybe two ) ago and bought it for one simple reason! This!! I have so many more ideas for a series of these and I can NOT wait to bring them all to life. Let me introduce you the COOLEST kindle/tablet case, ever. That's right, it is totally Salisbury steak tv dinner!! I even made sure to use a variegated brown, because the steak is never really a normal color! The mashed potatoes are nice and fluffy with some butter and the peas are piled nicely! Almost makes you want to eat it. This was so much fun to create and I can not wait to see the looks when I pull this out of my bag! My oldest...well she can be pretty demanding! Hahah. After seeing my open back top, she was on a mission to steal it! Since I refused to share, she declared she needed her own cool top! After thinking about it, I knew what to make! We are huge Potterheads ( I have many creations showing this ) and asked how she would feel about her OWN Weasley style top? She approved before I could finish my sentence, and assumed I could complete it in one night! Kid is crazy! After sketching out a few ideas, and doing some math, I had it! There was no way she was getting in one night...but her whines went ignored. I kept the design pretty basic and t-shirt style, so it wouldn't take away from her Initial. She was so excited over this...I should of milked it a little longer. The last picture was our first attempt at a photoshoot...she couldn't stop smiling!
Mom wins this week. Until next time xoxo My Monday through Friday job is a business casual dress code, and lets be honest...that gets really boring. I am sadly the size of a child, so finding business style clothes is hard enough, haha. Now if we add in how bland they all seem...I just need fun in my life to add into those 50 hour weeks. That's where crochet comes in handy! You can basically spice up any outfit with yarn! I did a yarn exchange back in February and was sent this beautiful glittery cake. Who doesn't love glitter? After a few hours, I had the cutest tank top cover! Spicing up your wardrobe is the best ego boost! "I love your top" "Thanks I made it!" Now if only Friday would get here quicker!! Until next time!
xoxo P.S My kid loves to capture my best moments! :) haha |
